Sellout for bicycle powered smoothies

There was loads of interest at the Redland May Fair in all matters sustainable. The Sustainable Redland stall was busy the whole day. Most noticeable compared with last year was the way most people were fully aware of all the issues and had already made major changes in their own way of thinking and footprints. It was great to meet so many friends who are active with sustainability groups in Bishopston, Westbury on-Trym, Downend and major institutions like Bristol University. Several other stalls were about closely related issues such as the Redland and Cotham Tree Club and the Friends of Suburban Railways. We were delighted that local Councillors and our MP Stephen Williams came and said hello. There was also a group of youngsters with an intrepid zero carbon smoothie stall. Their bicycle powered smoothie maker was constructed entirely from recycled gadgets obtained through the Freecycle community, the stall was hugely popular and a sellout.
