St Mary le Port

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

St Mary le Port is at the Bristol Bridge end of Castle Park.  It is one of the oldest bits of Bristol. Proposals for putting new office blocks and shops onto the site have been going back and forth for about ten years, and so far the plans have been very unpopular with Bristol residents.  They would also be carbon-intensive to build and to run.  They also involve loss of many of Castle Park’s lovely trees and some of the green space which is well used by office workers, shoppers and tourists.   Local architect Roger Mortimer has taken a fresh look – here are his proposals … st m le port

Council leaders are all publicly lamenting the ‘lost opportunity’ of the harbourside development.  So maybe they will take a look at these proposals and see that it doesn’t have to be like that.  If you are interested in this issue then do contact Roger – details in the document.
