Lord Turner’s committee says airports can’t keep expanding

In some carefully worded and lengthy documents issued on 8 December 2009, the Committee on Climate Change, chaired by Lord Turner, is basically saying that we can’t meet our carbon reduction targets AND let air travel carry on growing.  This challenges the official government line, still enshrined in the aviation White Paper, which basically took a predict and provide approach. North Somerset Council needs to take note, because they are having to decide on whether to give planning approval to the Bristol Airport Expansion Plans.
