Neighbourhood partnership launched

Friday, November 21st, 2008

About 200 people attended a lively meeting on Thursday 20 November, at Cotham School, to launch the new Neighbourhood Partnership for Redland, Cotham and Bishopston.  Susred, Sustainable Bishopston, Redland and Cotham Amenities Society and Bishopston Society were all there.  Lots of Councillors, local police officers, and council officers attended.  The partnership will be what we make it - it could revert to the usual ‘them and us’ with council staff being attacked on single-issue complaints, leading them to retreat to their offices in thet knowledge that they will never please all the people all the time.  It could become a genuine forum for local residents to acknowledge, and try and reconcile, the many conflicts of city life - for young, old, mobile, less mobile, and the needs of future generations who will suffer from the damge we are inflicting on our environment.  If you want to be on the mailing list for future Neighbourhood Partnership events then send your details to johanna.holmes@bristol.gov.uk
