Peak oil and govt

Friday, March 26th, 2010

The Government has gone from the BP position ’40 years of supply left, the price mechanism works, no need to worry’ to ‘crikey’  “. This was how the Guardian quoted Jeremy Leggett’s summing up of what happened on Wed 24 March. A workshop took place where Rob Hopkins (Totnes based permaculture teacher and co-founder of Transition Movement) and Peter Lipman (Bristol based lawyer working for Sustrans and Transition Network) explained Transition to govt officials. The event, on peak oil, was hosted by the Energy Institute and attended by Dept of Energy and Climate Change. It was under Chatham House rules. You can read Rob’s account here. It was reported in the Guardian.
