Bristol Civic Society is hosting an evening meeting where Councillor Jon Rogers is speaking about Bristol and transport.  Cities are crowded places, and 400,000 people cannot get about efficiently if the main means of transport is the individual private car. The cities that will prosper in the 21st Century will be those where people get about using public transport combined with walking and cycling.  It is not easy for citizens, businesses and politicians to look ahead 10 to 20 years, and to commit to the painful changes necessary in order to bring this about.  Jon has a lead role in Bristol City Council for transport, and he is helping to start this process.  The meeting is at the Redland Friends Meeting House, 126 Hampton Road, BS6 6JE opposite the Clyde Arms pub. 7.30pm
